Indonesian police have detained seven people in connection with a failed plot to attack Pope Francis, who recently completed the first part of his Asia-Pacific tour.

The arrests took place in Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, West Sumatra, and the Bangka Belitung Islands. The detainees, found with items such as bows, arrows, a drone, and ISIS leaflets, include some who have pledged allegiance to ISIS.

The investigation is ongoing, with the detainees’ connections and affiliations still unclear. The arrests were prompted by a public tip-off. The militants were reportedly angered by the Pope’s visit and the government’s request to limit Islamic call-to-prayer broadcasts during his visit.
